More than 20,000 Swedish households own shares in wind turbines and the number is increasing all the time. Unlike the owners of solar power wind turbines owners often live some distance away from their facilities. In a project funded by the Energy Agency the Interactive Institute will in conjunction with the customers of O2 Vindel design services that enhance the experience of self-produced wind power.

Design will make it easier
The project “Visualization of personal electricity” by the Interactive Institute is based on individuals commitment and interest in actively participating in a shift towards a climate and energy smarter society. Researchers and consumers of electricity will jointly design the concept. The project is funded by the Energy Agency and is linked to a parallel project financed by VINNOVA.
-One of the questions in this project is how design can be used to make it easier for people to regulate their own energy production and the use of it towards a sustainable society? says Anton Gustafsson, a PhD in Applied Information Technology and researcher at the Interactive Institute.

Eighty percent of the world’s energy will in the near future need to be replaced, from coal and oil to renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. That customers are small-scale producers of electricity is predicted by many to be an important part of a future sustainable society.
